Obituary of William Doran and spouse Ellen P. Murray Doran

Wm. Doran was born in St. John, near Brunswick, May, 1836, and died in Anthony, Kansas, April 2nd, 1913.  In 1871 he was married to Miss Ellen Murray at Sparland, Illinois. To them were born five children, three of whom survive him, with the wife and mother.  Those living are Logan Doran, at Anthony, Kansas; George Doran, at Pond Creek, Oklahoma and Mrs. Lillie Clifford, of Minnesota, and the wife who lives with her son at Anthony.

In 1903, he came to Fairview and lived here until 1910 when he moved to Carmen, later to Anthony, where he passed away.  He was a member of the Methodist church and was affiliated with the Masons and Eastern star orders at this place, being a charter member of the chapter.  He lived, as nearly as possible, the lessons taught by organizations.

The Masons had charge of the funeral services at the house in Anthony, April 3rd, in the morning and at this place met the family at the station in the afternoon and used their burial services at the depot and at the cemetery.  Standing in line at the depot were his sisters who belonged to the Star here.  His resting place was made in the Fairview cemetery.  Besides the wife, daughter and sons who were here was Frank Van Boskirk and W.H. Murray and wife, his sister of Wichita, Kansas; Robert Doran, a brother, of Henry, Illinois, Thomas Doran a brother, of Idabell, Kansas; Mrs. Mina Monier, of Peoria, Illinois’ Mrs. Phoebe Holler, sister and her husband of Protection, Kansas and a nephew, Jas. Doran and wife of Wichita, Kansas.

Ella P. Murray was born September 17th, 1852, at Kinderhook, Illinois, where she lived during her early girlhood.  She passes away November 21, 1930, at the home of her son, George Doran, Ponca City, Oklahoma.  In her later girlhood days she with her parents moved to Marshall county, Illinois, where she was married to William Doran in January, 1872.  To this union were born five children, three of whom are still living:  Mrs. Lillian Clifford of West Concord, Minn., George E. Doran of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Logan W. Doran of Fairview, Oklahoma.

After the death of Mr. Doran, in April 1913. Mrs. Doran made her home with her children, spending the summers with her daughter in Minnesota, and her winters with her two sons in Oklahoma.

She leaves to mourn her departure one sister, Mrs. M. M. Van Boskirk of Wichita, Kansas.

Funeral service was conducted from the Speace funeral home by Rev. Gaskins, and she was laid to rest beside her husband in the Fairview cemetery.
